Leigh L. Weiss II dies at 81

Former Chesterton resident Leigh L. Weiss II, 81, of Cloverdale, Mich., died Thursday, June 5, 2014.

He was born in Valparaiso, on Dec. 24, 1932, the son of Leigh L. and Leeta (Trese) Weiss, who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1996; and his sister, Geneva Carmichael.

He is survived by his children, Larry (Kim) Weiss of St. Charles, Mo., Stephen Weiss of Evansville, Ind., David Weiss (Trevelyn Palmore) of Chesterton, Cindy (Glenn) Perham of Michigan City, and Anita (Billy) Todd of Portage; two sisters, Mary Sutter of Montana and Billie Mae (Elmer) Aydelotte of Sebring, Fla.; and by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Leigh retired from Midwest Steel as a mechanic in the tractor shop. He was a member of the VFW in Delton, Mich., and a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Cremation will take place. No services are scheduled at this time. Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton, is handling arrangements.
