Lawrence 'Pudge' Christensen services Wednesday

Lawrence “Pudge” Christensen, age 62 of Chesterton, passed away at home on December 5, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on October 22, 1952, in Chicago, IL, to Norman and Mary L. (Earley) Christensen.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Perryman) Christensen of Chesterton; their three children, Michael (fiance’ Teresa), Amanda, and Lars; his seven siblings, Thomas Christensen, Margaret (Robert) Hanaway, Craig Christensen, Michael (Sharon) Christensen, Paul (Son Hui) Christensen, Jane (Joseph) Conrad and Annette (Roman) Dybas; his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends, a family of many close coworkers, and the many “Honorary Children” he opened his home to throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and cousin, Dennis Christensen.

Pudge was a retired Station Operator for NIPSCO. He was a lifelong area resident and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Pudge loved games, pool, and spending time with his family. He previously attended Purdue University, pursuing a degree in I.T. He will be missed beyond words by his friends and family.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 356 W 700 N., Valparaiso, IN 46385 . Burial will follow services at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton IN.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304, with Rosary Service starting at 3:30 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in Pudge’s honor may be made to The Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, 420 East Superior Street, Arthur J. Rubloff Building, 9th Floor, Chicago, IL, 60611.
