Larry Valpatic services Thursday

Larry “The Wiz” J. Valpatic, age 62, of Porter, Ind., passed away on April 12, 2014 in Valparaiso, Ind.

Larry was born on January 25, 1952, in Valparaiso, to Frank and Anne (Worsley) Valpatic, Sr.

He was married to Laura A. (nee Camery), who survives, of Porter, Ind.

He is also survived by his sons, Mike (Malissa) Valpatic of Portage, Joseph (Jamie) Valpatic of Arvada, Colo., Corey Valpatic of Porter, and Jeff (Tama) Chandler of Chesterton; daughter, Shana Valpatic of Porter; brothers, John (Nancy) Valpatic and Pete (Sue) Valpatic; sister, Terry (Dave) Woodcock and grandchildren, Devin, Emily and Ethan Valpatic and Lizzy and Belle Chandler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank Valpatic, Jr.

Larry served in the U.S. Army. He was a Castor Operator at Arcelor Mittal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 170 in Chesterton and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was an avid bowler and golfer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with funeral services at 5:00 p.m. with Father James Meade officiating at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation will be performed by Heritage Crematory, Portage, Ind.
