Kevin Carl Duval, age 71 of Valparaiso, Ind., formerly of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Friday April 12, 2013 at his home.

He was born on January 27, 1942 in Baltimore, Md., to Ernest and Mary Gould Duval, both of whom preceded him in death.

On November 26, 1986 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chesterton he married Diane Reling Duval, who survives in Valparaiso, Ind.

Also surviving are his children Kevin E. (Claire) Duval of Baltimore, Md., Jennifer (Pat) DePace of Parma Heights, Ohio, Crystal Sackman-Duval of Valparaiso, Ind., and Tisha (Aaron) Feasel of Jacksonville, N. Car., grandchildren Erynn Lyn (Greg) Korjenek, Icesis and Jordan Feasel, Megan Whiteside, and Blair and Teresa DePace and sister Patricia Fall of Nisswa, Minn., and his faithful companion Lady.

Kevin was a member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church and he retired from Bethlehem Steel with 40 years of service as a planner. He enjoyed meeting the “lunch bunch” from Bethlehem, reading, paying close attention to the news and politics. A great listener, he gave advice regardless if you asked for it and was a friend to all who knew him.

Kevin was a devoted, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Besides spending time with his friends and family, he enjoyed golf, a good cigar and most recently the companionship of his beloved dog Lady.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating from Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 North Mineral Springs Rd., Porter, IN 46304.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Hobart Humane Society and Augsburg Lutheran Church.
