Kenneth 'Pop' Bryan dies at age 104

Kenneth Edwin “Pop” Bryan, age 104, of Portage, Ind., passed away March 11, 2014.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Catherine, and his sons-Josh (Barb), Kit (Paula) and Babe Bryan; grandchildren Kermit E. (Kristie) Bryan, Cathy (Brian) Bryan, Laura (Bryan) Jovanovich, Zack (Brandy) Bryan, Jake (Jenny) Bryan, and Casey Bryan; great-grandchildren Jack Doyle, Tristan Bryan, Blake Bryan, Gianna Bryan, Madison Jovanovich and Jenna Bryan; favorite nieces and nephew Lynn (Roger) Fontenot, Tracy (Jay, J.R.) Frederick, and Randy Garnett.

He was preceded in death by his parents Panzie and James Bryan and grandson Joshua Alan Bryan.

Ken was retired from E J & E Railroad after 47 years of service. He lived for his family and was an avid lover of both large and small trains, bike rides, boating and waterskiing. He was a charter member of the TCA. Ken will be remembered as a gentle soul and a perfect gentleman. He lived and loved everyday of his 104 years.

Friends may visit with Ken’s family on Saturday, March 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th St., Hobart, Ind., with funeral services following immediately at 4 p.m., with Rev. Tom Shanahan officiating.
