John Seebeck services Saturday

John D. Seebeck, age 71 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Monday, December 30, 2013.

He was born July 13, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo., to Rev. William and Dorothy (Binz) Seebeck.

On April 30, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, Ind., he married Shirley Fisher, who survives.

He is also survived by his son, Michael (Lidia) Seebeck; daughter, Karen (Robert) Keeler; grandson, John Michael Seebeck; brother-in-law, Philip Goehring; nephews, Robert Goehring, Brad (Anita) Angeles and Adam Angeles; niece, Elisa Angeles and friends, Tom Lipinski, Ed and Judy Guernsey and Larry Marquardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dottie Goehring and infant grandson, Will.

John was employed by the Porter County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana Dunes State Park, Bethlehem Steel, Burns Harbor Police Department, Royal American Charter Lines and Valparaiso University. He was a train enthusiast and loved model trains. He also enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Duneland Model Railroad Club.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, Ind.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 3, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
