John Kowaluk dies at age 83

John Kowaluk, age 83 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014.

He was born on January 4, 1931 in Lackawanna, NY, to Teofil and Helen Kowaluk.

He was married to Caroline (Galvez) Kowaluk, who survives of Chesterton.

He is also survived by son, Gary John Kowaluk of Lawton, OK; daughter, Barbara Ann (Roger) Kowaluk Spangle of Brenham, TX; sister, Mary (Joe) Villar of Boston, NY, and grandchildren, Preston John Spangle, Jared Lee Grey Spangle, and Alexzander Christian Spangle.

John graduated from Lackawanna High School in 1948. He obtained an Associate’s Degree in Metallurgy from Erie County Technical College in 1952 where he played baseball. He was Metallurgic Engineering Foreman at Bethlehem Steel and retired after 42 years. He was a member of the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. John was a member of the American Legion. He loved gardening, golfing, bowling, model airplanes, and attending air shows.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.
