Jerry Lee Kidd dies at 68

Jerry Lee Kidd, age 68 of Chesterton, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1946, in Cabin Creek, W.V. to Jess and Gladys Mae (McSurley) Kidd.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, as well as his son, Jesse (Leslie) Kidd; daughters, Fonda (Jeffrey) Lawson and Angela (Greg) Foltz; brothers, Dan and Jack Kidd; sisters, Ruby Bradley, Rosie Hancock, and Charlotte Chaffin; grandchildren, Benjamin (Trisha), Brittany and Brooke Foltz, Reanna (Jordan) Lawson, Kaley Neville, Derek Patterson, and Jasmine Kidd; great-granddaughter, Gracie Mae Lawson; and seven step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Darrin Kidd; step-son, Bruce Stanley; and three brothers and five sisters.

He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 35 years of service as a mill wright. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, telling stories of his adventures, spending time in his workshop, his pets, and feeding all the wildlife.

Private graveside services will be held.
