Jean Louis Engberg visitation Wednesday

Jean Louis Engberg, age 81 of Portage, Ind., passed away on April 29, 2013.

Jean was born on September 16, 1931 in the upper peninsula of Michigan, to Charles O. Engberg and Inez (McGaughey) Engberg, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by daughters, Candy (David) Engberg Trusty of Chesterton, Ind.; Robin (Bryon) Engberg-Maluvac of Chesterton, Ind., Christy (Joe) Engberg Wolfe, brother, Merritt (Eleanor) Engberg of Ortonville, Mich.; sister, Claudette “Candy” Ferguson; grandchildren, Cord, Taryn, Hannah, Devin, Michael, Crystal and Alicia; and five great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Debbie Shellenberger, and infant sons Gene Louis and Gene Mark Engberg.

Jean was a US Army Veteran and a retired operator for Operating Engineers Local 150. He enjoyed nature, walking on the Duneland Trail from Portage to Chesterton, picking wild berries and hunting. He also enjoyed hunting for golf balls at Sand Creek. He enjoyed traveling and had been to Berlin, Germany, Amsterdam and Acapulco, Mexico. He was very proud of being a “Yooper.”

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., 46304.

Cremation services provided by Heritage Crematory, Portage, Ind.
