Jean Clancy dies at age 88

Jean Frances Clancy, 88, (nee Ryan) a longtime resident of Long Beach, Ind. passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Jean was born January 7, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Ruth Ryan.

On June 15, 1946, she married Ernest T. (Bud) Clancy in Chicago, Ill.

Jean is survived by her seven children: Thomas (Dana) of Evanston, Ill., Joseph (Loren) of Vero Beach, Fla., Linda Bar, Carol (Whitney) Clark, Joan (Paul) McCormick, Robert (Leigh) all of Long Beach and David (Yvonne) of Chesterton, Ind. Jean was the loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren and great-grandmother to two. She is also survived by sister in-laws Mary Ann Ryan and Helen Bouchard and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ruth Ryan, her husband Bud Clancy, her brother John Ryan and her brother-in-law Robert Bouchard.

She was a graduate of Mundelein College. She was a member of Notre Dame Church and the Notre Dame Rosarians for over fifty years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame Church, Michigan City, Ind., with Father Keith McClelland officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Cemetery in Michigan City. Visitation is at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City. Dates and times have not yet been set. Arrangments are being handled by Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 219-874-4214.
