Jaqueline Gifford Day services Friday

Jacqueline Gifford Day, age 61, passed away on March 5, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.

Jackie was born in Chicago, Ill., on April 28, 1952, to Joseph and Georgia (Andrews) Gifford.

She is survived by her husband, Phil Cashen; daughter Kendall Day and son Jordan Day; stepson, Peter Cashen; sister and brother, Joelynn (Michael Hertel), and Joseph (Bonnie) Gifford; loving nieces and nephews and many friends.

Jackie grew up in Chesterton, graduated from Chesterton High School, and went on to earn a degree in social work from George Williams College in Downers Grove, Ill.

Her life was spent in service to others from her first job as a counselor at an alternative high school, raising her family in Glen Ellyn, Ill., to her most recent work in Indianapolis at Nordstrom. She was a woman of great faith and character, an outstanding witness to her faith in the Lord, and provided a living example through her actions. She was a trained Stephen Minister. She enjoyed meeting and talking with people and kept friendships active from childhood to college, across time and place.

A service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, March 7, at College Park Church, 2605 W. 96th St., Indianapolis.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9-11 a.m., with the memorial service to follow at 11 a.m.

Donations may be made to The Foundation for Hand Research and Education (part of the St. Vincent Foundation) or The Realm of Caring, Colorado Springs, CO.

The family wishes to thank the Franciscan Hospice team for their caring service.
