Janice M. Vogedes, age 75 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away at her home on Tuesday April 23, 2013.

She was born August 16, 1937 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Hilmer and Ethelyn Hartwig Rosentreter, both of whom preceded her in death.

On August 10, 1957 in Wausau, Wis., she married Alfred Vogedes, who preceded her in death on December 2, 2008.

Jan is survived by her children Daniel Vogedes, of Michigan City, Ind; Randall Vogedes of Michigan City, Ind., and Linda Vogedes of Chesterton. She is also survived by five grandchildren Casey, Ashley, Brooke, Dylan and Erik.

Also surviving are sisters Marlene (Jim) Strachota, Linda Ploeger, and brother Daryll (Jane) Rosentreter, all of Wausau, Wis.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Doug, Gordon and Eugene Rosentreter and Diane Graebel.

Jan was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she volunteered her time helping at funeral lunches. She was employed by Hopkins’ ACE Hardware where she was a cashier for 18 years. Jan bowled in a Women’s League at Westchester Lanes. Her cats were very dear to her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet, Chesterton, Ind., on Saturday April 27, at 10:00 a.m. with Father James Meade officiating. Burial will take place at the Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, Ind., from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
