James L. Rosendaul “Rosey”, age 60, a lifelong resident of Lake Station (East Gary), Ind., passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013.

He was born in Gary, Ind., on June 29, 1952 to Dale and Alma Jean (Brunker) Rosendaul.

Rosey is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Haskell) Rosendaul; three daughters, Shelly (Terry) Ralston of Lake Station, Ind., Jennifer (Mike) Kierstead and Brenda (Jay) Rosendaul, both of Chesterton, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Maggie, Brianna, Zoe, Taylor, Ellie and Artie; his five furry pets, Sandy, Larry, Schemp, Moe and Paxton; siblings, Sandy (Tim) Piner and Dale (Carole) Rosendaul of Portage, Ind. and Scott Rosendaul of South Bend, Ind.; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and extended family at Jelly Stone Campground.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law, Henry and Margaret Haskell.

Rosey was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a volunteer Firefighter for Lake Station Fire Department for 28 years. He retired from US Steel after 20 years of service.

In his death, Rosey gave the gift of sight, through cornea donation with the Indiana Lions Eye Bank.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind. A Moose Service will be held at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Rosie’s family.
