Henrietta C. Nover, age 97 of Porter, passed away October 25, 2014, in
Michigan City.
She was born July 19, 1917, in Michigan City to Constantine and Eleanore (Myslinski)
Bobinski. On July 4, 1940, she married Carl Edwin Nover, who preceded her in
death in 1951.
A hardworking, widowed mother of six, Henrietta raised her family on her
own. She was an amazing mother who was loved dearly by her children and will
be missed tremendously. Henrietta is survived by her children, Luke Nover of
LaPorte, Dennis (Cindy) Nover of Valparaiso, Arlene (Bill) McGrogan of
Porter, John (Phyllis) Nover of Milton, FL, and Kay (Jim) Kintzele of
Chesterton. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 39
great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her husband Carl, Henrietta was preceded in death by her son
Mark Nover, and her three sisters and five brothers. A lifelong area
resident, Henrietta was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a member
of The Rosary Society, and an avid bowler. She spent many years as a
waitress at Maxine and Heine’s restaurant in Michigan City.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2014,
at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Ave.,
Chesterton, IN, 46304, with burial immediately following at Greenwood
Cemetery, Michigan City.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304,
with Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial donations in Henrietta’s honor may be made to St. Patrick Catholic
Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at
