George Kester dies at age 69

George Kester, age 69 of Porter, Ind., passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 at his home.

He was born on February 24, 1944 in Indianapolis, Ind., to Clarence R. and Mary Loretta Duvall Kester, both of whom preceded him in death.

On October 1, 1989, at the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton, he married Nancy Taylor Gillespie Kester, who survives in Porter, Ind.

Also surviving are his children Dwain (Michele) Kester of Texas, Lannette (Ted Conder) Kester of South Carolina, Lisa (Rick) Kester DeVault of South Carolina, Sharon Gillespie Wozniak of Chesterton, Theresa Hegburg Gillespie of Chesterton, Kristin (David) Gillespie Cady of Michigan City, Ind., and Annette (Shad) Gillespie Steiger of Connecticut; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and sisters Barbara (Henry) Sebben Franz of Crown Point, Ind., Judy Elliott of Kansas and Patricia (Delbert) Lopez of Kansas.

George was preceded in death by his parents, sister Anita Murrell, grandson Dakota Gay, granddaughter Crystal Moore, son-in-law Michael Gay and stepson J. Kenneth Gillespie. George was a painter-decorator for H.A. Green Decorating and Southlake Decorating. He was a lifetime member of IUPAT. George enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, cooking and spending time with his family.

There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St. Chesterton, Ind.
