passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014, in Portage, Ind.
He was preceded in
death by his wife, Shirley Sayer; his father, Andrew George Sayer and mother
Florence Belle Sayer; brothers, Harold Sayer and Phillip Sayer.
Francis was born on
February 28, 1925, and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where he
attended the Sault Area Public Schools and graduated in 1942. Following
graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II was
part of the European Theater.
Francis is survived
by his six children, Thomas (Sherri) Sayer of Tomah, Wis., Margaret Sayer of
Tucson, Az., Frank (Shelley) Sayer Jr. of Portage, Ind., Korrie (Gerry)
Retzloff of Battlecreek, Mich., Lon (Roni) Sayer of New Carlisle, Ohio, and
Mikkie (Paul) Schemanski of Petoskey, Mich. He is also survived by 10
grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
According to his
wishes, Francis will be cremated and his remains placed beside his wife and
parents at Riverside Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Wesleyan
Church, 75 E 1100 N Chesterton, Ind., where he was a member, with Francisí
grandsonís Pastor Andrew Sayer and Pastor Brooks Sayer officiating.
Visitation will be
held on Wednesday, February 26, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans
