Dwain Holmgren dies at age 68

Dwain Eugene Holmgren, age 68, of Chesterton, Ind., passed away July 15, 2014, at Porter Regional Hospital.

He was born February 16, 1946, in Chesterton, to Ruth (King) and Owen “Swede” Holmgren.

On February 28, 1976, he married Jane Nelson of Valparaiso, Ind., who survives.

Also surviving are his two sons, Derek of Bloomington, Ind., and Danen (Katie Sabucik) of Chesterton; daughter, Kara (Tom Neckopulos) of Greenville, S. Car.; granddaughter Michelle Holmgren; sister, Gwen Genovese (Ken) and niece Kendy Genovese (Stuart Alexander).

Dwain was a fisherman, hunter, chess player, Boy Scout leader, and a cook. He loved soccer, movies and working with his hands. Dwain loved his community, his friends, and making people laugh. Most dearly, however, he loved his family. He was truly a family man.

There will be no services at this time. Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, is handling arrangements.
