Dannie R. Kissinger, 85, of Valparaiso passed away Monday, September 29, 2014, at home.

He was born July 28, 1929, in Gary, Ind., to James and Cynthia (Anderson) Kissinger. He graduated from Chesterton High School in 1948 where he played all sports and excelled at basketball. Dannie then served with the U.S. Armyís 926th Field Artillery in Korea. He retired with over 30 years of service at Inland Steelís Open Hearth Furnace and B.O.F. Dannie attended Liberty Bible Church and continued to enjoy all sports actively. He spent many hours with his much loved nieces and nephews. As time went on he developed a special place in his heart for the Laotian community, especially their children.

Survivors include his siblings: Rev. Clifford (Virginia) Kissinger of Springfield, OH, Marjorie Underwood of Valparaiso, Lloyd (Nancy) Kissinger of Chesterton, Jane (Dean) Cernek of Wisconsin, Karl (Julie) Kissinger of Valparaiso, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Irene Weimer and brothers James and Wilbur Kissinger.

A visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. Funeral service Saturday, at 11:00 a.m., at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton, IN.
