Colene Jo Wingo-Layman service Tuesday

Colene Jo Wingo-Layman, age 69 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Friday, January 31, 2014.

She was born on May 31, 1945, in McAlester, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Mary J. (Blaine) Wingo.

Colene is survived by her husband of 17 years, Alan Layman; children, Timothy (Lisa) Abbott of Euharlee, Ga., and Tammy (Kirk) Ward of Chesterton, Ind.; seven loving step-children; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, June (Dave) Rodrick, Sr. of Kouts, Ind., and Elaine (Larry) Greer of Hobart, Ind.; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Claudine Spagna and step-son, Jeff Layman.

Colene had worked as a nurse, retiring from the Westville Correctional Center. She loved to read and watch football, Go Packers! Colene’s favorite moments, were the time spent with her family, especially playing with her grandkids.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, Ind.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Cremation will take place at Angelcrest Crematory, Valparaiso.
