Arrangements set for Charles W Cherry, 91

Jackson Township resident Charles W. Cherry, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.

He was born on Dec. 5, 1921, in Model, Tenn., the son of George and Mallie Cherry, who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Cherry.

He survived by his son, Charles Cherry of Valparaiso; grandchildren Steven (Jayme) Cherry of Canton, Ga., Lisa (Scott) Thompson of Columbus, Ohio, and Rachada Sriplo of Valparaiso; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Velma Sharpin of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Cherry, and his many siblings.

Charles was an inspector at U.S. Steel for many years, a member of the Little Rock Baptist Church in Cadiz, Ky., a volunteer fireman, and an avid stamp collector.

Charles will be buried in Kentucky with his wife, Bobbie, at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South Second Street in Chesterton.
