Annie Zachary dies at age 80

Annie Zachary, age 80 of Porter, Ind., passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

She was born November 11, 1932 in Hanson, Ky., to Jesse C. and Goldie J. (Ellis) Dame. She was one of five siblings.

Annie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas M. Zachary.

She is survived by her son, Thomas A. (Diane) Zachary of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; daughters, Carol (Dick) Campbell of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Karen (Ray) Arambula of Valparaiso, Ind., and Connie (Mike) Jacko of Wanatah, Ind.; grandchildren, Jeremy Campbell, Heather (Adam) Richey, Emily (Josh) Zachary-Smith, Ashley (Dave) Eschler, Brandon (Quinn) Medley, Alecia Medley, Douglas Arambula, and Jared Arambula; great-grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Oliver Smith, Jagger Medley and Cecilia Medley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, JH Dame, Calbert Dame, and Marvin Dame and sister, Ruthie DeMoss.

She worked as a telephone operator while living in Hopkinsville, Ky. Her love for children and the elderly led her to provide day care and senior care services throughout her life. She enjoyed horseback riding and volleyball. Annie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 503.

Per Annie’s wishes there will be no services held. Arrangements are being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.
