Alene Burnside services Thursday

Alene Elizabeth Warren Burnside passed away peacefully at the VNA Hospice on Sunday morning October 26, 2014 at the age of 91. Alene was born to Ross and Lilian Warren on August 10, 1923 in Chesterton, IN. She married Warren Burnside on August 12, 1940.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren, her son Vaughn, grandchildren, Heather and Adam McDowell and four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her brother, David Warren of Michigan City, IN; daughters, Patricia (Lee) Amstutz of Westville, IN, Karen Burnside of Michigan City, IN and Kim (Earl) McDowell of Hobart, IN; son, David (Sheila) Burnside of Valparaiso, IN and daughter-in-law, Sandy Burnside of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Jill and Peter Amstutz, Melenie Burnside-Krider, Katherine McIlvanie, Jason and Matthew Burnside, Jenny Koehler and Jennifer Pecina and ten great-grandchildren.

Alene was a life-long member of the Chesterton United Methodist Church and a long time IU basketball fan. She was a “lunch lady” at CHS for many years.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Chesterton First United Methodist Church, 434 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN, 46304, with Pastor Terry Rhine. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, VNA Hospice or Chesterton United Methodist Church. Online condolences to the family may be left at www.ee-fh.com
