Virginia Farnum, age 85, of Valparaiso, Ind., passed away Monday, November
26, 2012 at the VNA Hospice Center.
She was born February 14, 1927, in Valparaiso, the daughter of Henry and
Grace Viola (Inman) Erea.
On October 22, 1945 in Valparaiso, she married Bert E. Farnum, who preceded
her in death June 16, 1998.
Surviving are her children, Gwenlyn L. Smith and Bert E. (Diane) Farnum, Jr.
of Chesterton, Ind., and Brian E. Farnum of St. Petersburg, Fla., six
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a half-
brother, a sister and a grandson.
Virginia was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a founding member of the
Oasis Club at St. Paul’s and was very active in the Valparaiso Women’s Club,
the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 94 and the Elks #500. She
was also a past board member of the Family Service Association of Porter
County.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at
Bartholomew Funeral Home Rev. Michael Hoffman officiating.
Memorial visitation will be Friday 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.
