Steve A. Bellovary dies at age 99

Steve A. Bellovary, 99, of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Pines Village.

He was born November 12, 1912 to John and Julia (Sipos) Bellovary.

On July 14, 1946 he married Eileen Bushey who preceded him in death in 1998.

Survivors include their children: Steven (Marcia) Bellovary of California; Diane (Thomas) Payne of Washington Township; Barbara (Melvin) Figolah of Chesterton; brother, Joseph Bellovary of Merrillville; six grandchildren: Tom, Mark, Kevin, Lisa, Michael and Thomas and two great grandchildren: Lillian and Bridger with one more due in July.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers; John and Alex and a sister, Rose Nuzzo.

He served with the U.S. Army’s 6th Armored Division in Europe during WW II. He had owned Steve’s Shoe Shop in Glen Park from 1937 – 50 then worked at U.S. Steel 84 inch Hot Strip Mill from 1950 – 75. Steve finished his career working 15 years at Costas Foods Receiving Department.

A visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m., Rev. Jerry Castleman officiating and cremation to follow.

Private burial of ashes will take place at Angelcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or the VNA Hospice of Porter County.
