Russell Warren Larson dies at age 93

Russell Warren Larson, age 93 of Porter Ind., passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at his home.

He was born December 15, 1918 in Gary, Ind., to Harry and Edith Asplund Larson, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children Ronald (Genny) Larson of Portage, Ind., and Barbara (Thomas) Osowski of Walkerton, Ind.; grandchildren Rhonda (Tim) Hamilton and Steven (Melissa) Larson; great-grandchildren Sarah Hamilton, Alexis, Victoria, Madison and Steven, Jr. Larson and his step-great-grandchildren Cody Duncan and Austin Hogenson.

Russ is also survived by his sister Doris (Lee) Thrasher of Gary, Ind., his brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Peggy Newton, of Ogden Dunes, Ind., and his caregiver Carol Townsend of Porter.

He was preceded in death by his wife Iris Newton Larson on October 19, 2011 and by a brother, Raymond Larson.

Russ graduated from Gary Emerson High School and was an Operating Engineer with 50 years of service with Local #150. He was a member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Elks Lodge.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. (Chesterton time) from the Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Rd., Porter, Ind., with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating. Burial will be in the Burstrom Cemetery, Porter, Ind.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m. (Chesterton time) at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, Ind.

Memorials may be given to Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church and VNA Hospice, Valparaiso, Ind., in Russís name.
