Valparaiso resident Roland Jonas, 70, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012.

He was born Nov. 20, 1941, in LaPorte, the son of Raymond and Katherine E. (Allen) Jonas, who preceded him in death.

On April 17, 1961, he married Vicki Seigh, who survives in Valparaiso.

He is also survived by a son, Mike (Sharon) Jonas of Valparaiso; a daughter, Jeanette (Charles) Matheny of California; an son-in-law, Carl Rospierski; a brother, John Jonas of Indianapolis, sisters, Ethel Myers of LaPorte and Martha Bilic of Kouts; grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Moreno and Mitchell Rospierski; and a great-grandson, Cameron.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Jonas; and brothers-in-law Richard Myers and James Bilic.

Roland was a retired member of Boilermakers Local 374. He enjoyed watching Nascar races and spending time at the local casinos.

Cremation will take place and there will be no services at this time.

Arrangements are being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton.
