Richard Bolinger dies at age 90

Richard F. Bolinger, “Bull”, age 90, passed peacefully away Wednesday, May 16, 2012.

Richard was born December 2, 1921 in Gary and graduated from Emerson High School where he was a star athlete and met and married his high school sweetheart, Elsie.

He is survived by daughter, Pamela J. Kennoy of Michigan City; sons, Richard (Jolene) Bolinger Jr. of Crown Point, Michael G. (Linda) Bolinger of Toledo, Ohio and Michael L. Dillon of Burns Harbor with whom he made his home; grandchildren, Tonya (Steve) Hiscox of Chesterton, Beth Purdy of Michigan City, Amy (Joseph) Beyer of Plainfield, Ind., Kristen (Scott) Radwan of Munster, Rebekah (Kevin) Matokar of Dyer, Jason Bolinger of Toledo, Ohio, Darren (Kristina) Bolinger of Lansing, Mich., and Kimberly Bolinger of Toledo, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Logan, Branden, Trae. Samantha and Calvin; great-great-grandchild, Lillian and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, his parents, George and Catherine and brothers, Paul, George and Robert Bolinger.

He served as a Ranger in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the American Legion Post 260 and a charter member of the Burns Harbor Lions Club. Dick was one of the founding fathers of the town of Burns Harbor. He retired as a plumber.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be held today, Monday, May 21, 2012 10:00 a.m. at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, Ind., with Rev. Erik Bernth officiating.

Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Road, Porter, IN, 46304 where Dick was a longtime member.
