Peter LaTour, age 71, of Porter, Ind., passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012,
surrounded by his loving family, after courageously battling cancer for
several years.
He was born June 12, 1940 in Gary, Ind. to William F. and Annabelle (St.
Mary) LaTour, both of whom preceded him in death.
He married Carol (Andershock) LaTour, who survives of Porter.
He is also survived by his daughters, Kimberly LaTour-Schultz of Kouts,
Kelly LaTour of Porter,and Amanda (Andre) LaTour-Szczubiala of Chesterton;
brother, Charles (Kathleen) LaTour of Powder Springs, Georgia;
grandchildren, Jared Schultz, Hunter Schultz, Jacob Colvin and Bailey
Kovalan; as well as many dear friends including Gene, Mort and Kris and his
canine companion, Blue.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William LaTour and
Dennis LaTour.
Peter graduated from Chesterton High School in 1959. He worked in Quality
Control at Inland Steel and retired in 1997 after 39 years. After
retirement, he worked as a Golf Ranger at Sand Creek Country Club. He
enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, playing horseshoes and watching
stock car races.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at
Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., with
Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating.
Memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at
7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cremation will take place at Heritage Crematory,
Portage, Ind.
