Louis W. Pishkur, age 85 of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away Tuesday,
February 7, 2012 in Valparaiso. He was born March 28, 1926 in Gary, Ind., to
Frank and Justina (Grubar) Pishkur, who preceded him in death.
Louis was married to Alice Pishkur, who preceded him in death in 2000.
Louis is survived by his sons, Matthew (Debra) Pishkur of Valparaiso and
Martin Pishkur of Chesterton; granddaughter, Amanda Pishkur of Valparaiso;
brothers, Tony Pishkur of Crown Point and Edward (Mary Lou) Pishkur of
Valparaiso; sisters, Mary Geras of Crown Point and Elizabeth (Bernard)
Beckham of Valparaiso; sister-in-law, Irene Moore of Portage; and many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Joseph, John,
Frank, Matthew and James; and sister, Frances Bley.
Louis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a
member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and worked as a Switchman at Inland
Steel. Louis enjoyed baseball, golfing and bowling. He was a member of the
Gary Sportsman Club in Crown Point and the American Legion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:30
a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton, Ind.,
with Father James Meade officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn
Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Ind.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 10, 2012 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at
Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., with a rosary
service held at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Agnes Adult Daycare
Center, 1859 Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, IN, 46385 or the VNA Hospice
Center, 2401 Valley Dr., Valparaiso, IN, 46383.
