Louis Garcia, age 51 of Portage, Ind., passed away November 2, 2012.

He was born July 17, 1961 in Monticello, Ind. to Valentin O. and Helen (Sanchez) Garcia Sr.

Louis is survived by his mother Helen of Portage; daughters, Ryan (John) Kuehl of South Haven, Samantha Robinson, Merranda Garcia, and Rita Garcia; brothers, J.J. (Tanya) Garcia of Los Angeles, Calif., and Valentino O. (Teresa) Garcia Jr.; sisters, Sophie Walker, Victoria R. (Ralph) Arenas, Rita (Tom) Harvey of Chesterton, and Helen (Nick) Appelman of Portage.

He was preceded in death by his father Valentin O. Garcia Sr.

Louis was a lifelong area resident and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He had studied welding at Ivy Tech and loved music.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind., with Father Andrew Corona officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
