Lois J. Sanders, age 64 of Valparaiso, Ind., passed away on Wednesday,
August 1, 2012 at her home.
She was born on July 1, 1948, to Joseph and Helen Martin Dumakowski, both of
whom preceded her in death.
On April 5, 1969 in Hammond, she married Thomas J. Sanders, who survives in
Valparaiso.
Also surviving are her children Heather (Martin) Kubiak of Chesterton and
Erica (Ray) Yagelski of Chesterton and grandchildren Raymond and Ava
Yagelski of Chesterton; siblings Joseph (Debbie) Dumakowski of Munster and
Pam (Ray) Diggs of St. John. Sisters-in-law Sue Vomish of Dowagic, Mich.,
Peggy Celerak of Fisher, Ind., and Lynn Morgan, brothers-in-law Larry
(Linda) Sander of Hammond, Terry (Karen) Sanders of Dowagic, Mich., as well
as many nieces and nephews are also surviving.
Lois was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, a teacher’s aid at the
Michigan City Schools, worked at Porter Starke, and was a member of
Chesterton Junior Women’s Club and Women’s Auxiliary Post 502, She was also
a “Shrimp Lady,” at Our Lady of Sorrows Fish Fry. She was a great wife, mom
and grandmother.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m.
at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton. There will be
a prayer service Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at
St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton with Father
James Meade officiating.
