John K. 'Ken' Gillespie services Monday

John K. “Ken” Gillespie, age 51 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Valparaiso, Ind.

He was born May 31, 1961 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

He was married on October 8, 1988 in Chesterton, to Theresa (Hegburg) Gillespie, who survives of Chesterton.

Ken is also survived by his daughters, Megan Gillespie, Ashley Gillespie and Amanda Gillespie, all of Chesterton; father, John “Jack” (Barb) Gillespie of Porter; mother, Nancy (George) Kester of Porter; sisters, Sharon (Mike) Wozniak of Chesterton, Krissy (Dave) Cady of Michigan City, Ind., and Anne (Shad) Steiger of Bethel, Ct.; and many nieces and nephews.

Ken was a faithful family man, a loving and loyal friend and a follower of Jesus. He worked as an Electrical Planner at the Midwest Plant of US Steel. Ken was a member of Liberty Bible Church and volunteered for Liberty Rec. for 15 years. He was active with the Chesterton High School Marching Band and spent a lot of time helping with his daughters’ activities throughout the years.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton, Ind., with Pastor Bob Nienhuis officiating, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Private burial will take place at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Ind.

Visitation will also be held Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a fund established for his daughters’ education.
