Joan R. Redelman, age 78 of Valparaiso, Ind., passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

She was born April 20, 1933 in Valparaiso, to Arthur J. and Doris E. (Wilkinson) Curtis, who preceded her in death.

Joan was married on April 7, 1956 in Liberty Township to Vincent Redelman, who preceded her in death.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Linda (Paul) McChristian of Valparaiso; brother, Allen Curtis of Hobart, Ind.; sister, Dr. Delores Curtis of Hawaii; grandchildren, Christopher McChristian of Valparaiso, Joshua (Kristen) McChristian of Schaumburg, Ill., Jacob McChristian of Indianapolis, Ind., Catherine (Stephen) O’Neal of Hebron, Ind., and Sarah (Nick) Hiscox of Chesterton; as well as great-grandchildren, Ethan and Caleb McChristian, Leah and Lauren McChristian, Paxton McChristian and Teagan O’Neal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael Stephen Redelman and brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Arthur Curtis.

Joan worked as an Assembler for McGill Manufacturing, retiring after 22 years of service.

She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and the Women of the Moose in Valparaiso. Joan was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading, flowers, computer games and gambling.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 4:00 p.m. at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 1507 Glendale Blvd., Valparaiso, Ind.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, February 18, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County.
