Forrest Earl Tomlinson, age 92 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Sunday,
August 19, 2012.
He was born June 17, 1920 in Lebanon, Tennessee, to Renza and Annie (Jolley)
Tomlinson, both of whom preceded him in death.
On December 27, 1956 he married Margaret (Ray) Tomlinson, who also preceded
him in death.
He is survived by his son, James (Linda) Freels of Mission, Texas;
daughters, Patricia (Kenneth) Smith of Michigan City, Ind., Anna “Ruthie”
(Charles) Boteler of Portage, Ind., and Bert (Dan) McGlothin of Valparaiso,
Ind.; sister, Anna Jean Wilson of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 32
great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his son Floyd Freels, and brother Bedford
Forrest was an Air Force veteran and a retiree of Republic Steel. He was a
member of American Legion Post 279, and Dunes Masonic Lodge 741.
Forrest enjoyed playing pool, working in his yard, and was known and loved
for repairing bikes for the children in his neighborhood.
He loved his family dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at
Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind., with Pastor
John Allen officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage, Ind.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 24, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. at the funeral home, and on Saturday, August 25, from 10:00 a.m. until
the time of the services at 11:00 a.m.
