Dorothy L. Boswell, age 90, of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Waters of Duneland in Chesterton.

Dorothy was born in Lorain, Ohio, on June 1, 1921 to Samuel and Adah Elizabeth (Ellis) Powers.

Her family moved to Northwest Indiana in 1928. She graduated from Emerson High School in 1939.

After graduation Dorothy married William Boswell and became a mother and a homemaker to her family.

She is survived by her sons, David (Joyce) Boswell of Russellville, Alaska, Thomas (Cheryl) Boswell of Hammond, Ind., and James (Noemi) Boswell of Chesterton; daughter, June (Lowell) Norman of Liberty Township, Ind.; grandchildren Tim, Michael, Nancy, Sebastian, T.J., Katie, Ryan, David, Janet, Barbie, John and Amy and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; brother, Robert S. Powers; and sisters, Amy Albretch and Edith Powers-Boswell.

Dorothy loved nature and the outdoors, she liked going for rides through the dunes and by Lake Michigan. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening and bird watching.

Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
