Cheryl Myers dies at age 94

Cheryl T. Myers, nee Chamberlain, age 94, of Oak Brook, Illinois, passed away Feb. 6, 2012 at Hinsdale Hospital, Hinsdale, Ill.

She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on March 21, 1917, the daughter of the late Ralph and the late Leslie Chamberlain.

She was the wife of the late Samuel W. Myers.

She is survived by daughters Marilyn (James) Mondschean and Cheryl Marie (Daniel) Quick; grandchild Joseph (Jeanne) Mondschean; great-grandchildren Joseph, Jacob, and Justin Mondschean and sister Lorraine Keeler. She was the fond aunt, friend and relative of many.

Cheryl’s life was filled with many spectacular achievements for a woman of her time. Over the course of her life she acquired her pilot’s license while in her 20s. She became a top marksman and was an avid hunter. She was instrumental in the running of her husband’s farm. She was the secretary to the executive team of Socony- Vacuum Oil Company of Chicago (later Mobil Oil). Cheryl and her husband were co-management of the Enchanted Forest Amusement Park of Indiana with her friends. She also was a member of 4H, leader of Star Homemakers, International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) and Oak Brook Women’s Club. Lastly, she was a world traveler visiting Russia, Germany, Austria and Australia. She continues to be an inspiration to all who knew her.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, Feb. 10 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Rd., Lombard, Ill. (3 Blks. S. of Roosevelt).
