Charles Bellar, age 69 of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away March 15, 2012 in
Florida.
Charles was born on February 19, 1943 in Gary, Indiana to Charles and
Elizabeth (Sinks) Bellar.
Charles is survived by his wife, Christine “Tina” (Ugalde) Bellar of
Valparaiso; sons, Adam (Michelle) Bellar of Hebron, Ind. and Tony Bellar of
Chesterton; daughter, Amy (Joe) Bolan of Valparaiso; five grandchildren,
Lauren Bellar, Bryce Bellar, Blake Bellar, Lucas Bolan and Sadie Bolan;
brothers and sisters, Jack (Judy) Bellar of Fowler, Ind., Maryann Pierce of
Jackson, Tenn., Larry (Delores) Bellar of Ogden Dunes, Ind., Louis (Sue)
Bellar of Hobart, Ind. and Laura (Bill) Phillips of Jackson, Tenn. and many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth.
He was a member of Southlake Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the
church board and went on several mission trips. He was also a former member
of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time
fishing with his grandchildren. Charles was a mechanical engineer and former
owner of Duneland Group in Chesterton. After selling his business he worked
and retired from his son’s company, HECO, a division of Grindco in
Chesterton, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at
Southlake Church of the Nazarene, 7355 E. 81st Ave., Crown Point, Ind., with
Rev. Ronald Richmond officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave.,
Portage, Ind.
Memorials in Charles’ name may be made to the National Diabetes Association.
