Burl K. Yarber dies at age 84

Burl K. Yarber, age 84 of Chesterton, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012 at his home.

He was born December 11, 1927 in Riverside, California, to Thurman and Doris (Adams) Yarber, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was married to Jackie J. (Conway) Yarber, who survives of Chesterton.

He is also is survived by his son, Quint (Inga) Yarber of Valparaiso, Ind.; daughters, Lenora (Ted Dohner) Andersen and Joyce (Robert) Mottinger both of Chesterton, Ind.; six grandchildren, Kenneth and Andrew Yarber, Christine (Bruce) Mendyke and Ryan (Jessica) Mottinger and Mark and Brad (Deborah) Andersen and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Yarber.

Burl worked at U.S. Steel as a Millwright and was a washer and dryer repairman. He was a mason, an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed clogging and listening to bluegrass music.

Visitation for Burl will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 7, at Chesterton Cemetery, 300 E. Porter Ave. Chesterton, Ind., with Reverend Denver Ayres officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to VNA Hospice of Porter County, 2404 Valparaiso St., Valparaiso, IN, 46383.
