Alvin F. Udvare Sr. of Giddings, Texas, formerly of Chesterton, Indiana,
died Thursday, December 8, 2011 in Austin, Texas.
He was born September 27, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Andrew and Emily (Boschan)
Udvare, both of whom preceded him in death.
Alvin entered the United States Air Force after high school where he proudly
served for 20 years retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1969. During his
military career he was stationed in Japan and Guam where he met and married
his first wife Jeanie who preceded him in death.
Their four children also survive them; Janie (John) Starnes and Jennifer
(Randy) Camacho of Guam; Andrew (Ana) Udvare of Massachusetts, and Janet
White of Washington.
Alvin returned to the states where he met and married Barbara L. (Bock)
Udvare who also preceded him in death. From this union he has two children
who survive him, Sheila (Chris) Winkelmann of Giddings, Texas and A.J.
Udvare (fiancee' Courtney Cassler) of Portage, Indiana.
Alvin is also survived by his sister-in-law Bonnie Bock (Mike Booth) of
Giddings, Texas, his son-in-law's parents and close friends Mike and Enza
Winkelmann of South Bend and by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and close friends.
He was a special blessing to his two youngest granddaughters, Lena and Vania
Winkelmann who were able to spend the last few months getting to know their
Papa whom they love and will miss very much.
Alvin was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He attended Northway
Church of Christ in South Bend, Indiana until his move to Texas in August.
Alvin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the
age of 78.
By Alvin's request, he has been cremated and a private family memorial was
held in Giddings Texas. A graveside military service will take place in
Northwest Indiana at a later date.
The family asks memorial contributions be made to the family to offset
travel expenses and may be sent to P.O. Box 1639, Giddings, TX 78942.
