Lonnie F. Potter, age 76, of Chesterton, Indiana passed away Tuesday, May
10, 2011 in Valparaiso.
He was born September 27, 1934 in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, to Nat and
Martha (Moore) Potter, who preceded him in death.
He was married on December 19, 1957 in Johnson City, Tenn., to Lona F. (Lunceford)
Potter, who preceded him in death in 2007.
Lonnie is survived by his son, Dennis J. (Debra) Potter of Brunswick Hills,
Ohio; daughters, Donna J. (Stephen) Rodgers of Michigan City, and Wanda M. (P.J.)
Sliwa of Delaware, Ohio; brothers, Larry Potter of Chesterton, and Lawrence
(Sharon) Potter of Mooreland, Ind.; sisters, Lonnel (Angelo) Caruana of
Westland, Mich., and Linda (Gary) Graff of Chesterton; and grandchildren,
Alexander Sliwa and Nicholas Sliwa.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Smokey
the cat.
Lonnie retired from General Motors, in Parma, Ohio after working in shipping
for almost 38 years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10 a.m. at
Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind. Entombment will
follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Ind.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the
funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County.
