Service set for Violet 'June' Shepard

Violet “June” Shepard died Sunday, March 6, 2011. She was 85.

Born in Mederyville, Ind. on June 7, 1925, she was the daughter of Harry Byers and Mabel Byers-Anderson, who proceeded her in death.

She is survived by children Linda Wheatman, Roy Shepard, and David Shepard (wife Carol), all of Chesterton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceeded in death by husband Jack Shepard, son Ronald Wayne Shepard, daughter Tina Marie Shepard, sister Luella Mae Alkire and brother Damon Eugene Byers.

June retired from Culver Academies, where she worked in the Food Service Department. She was a member of the Culver VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Wesley United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. EST on Friday March 11, at Odem Funeral Home, Culver. Funeral services will be at the Wesley United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 12 at 10 a.m. EST, with Pastor Larry Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at Independence Cemetery in Medaryville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society.
