Former Porter resident Katherine Elaine Murgita (nee Celebucki) of Columbus,
Ga. passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
after a lengthy illness with heart failure. She was 54.
She was born
Sept. 9, 1956 in Michigan City. She is survived by her husband of 35 years,
Steven Murgita; son Christopher (wife Whitney) Murgita of North Carolina;
granddaughters Savannah and Olivia Murgita; daughter Kim Murgita of
Columbus, Ga.; mother Sally Celebucki of Chesterton; brothers Michael
(Karen) Celebucki of Porter and Raymond Celebucki of Trail Creek, Ind.;
niece Michelle Celebucki of Porter; and nephew Anthony W. Celebucki of Terre
Haute.
She was preceded
in death by Anthony M. Celebucki. An avid gardener and interior decorator,
she volunteered with the local community church and with special needs
children. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her
granddaughters.
Visitation will
be Tuesday, Jan. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan.
5 at 11 a.m. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, Ga.
Burial will be in Kings Mountain, N.C.
