Sandra L. (Guzik) Solomon, age 63, of Valparaiso, Ind., passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at her home.

She was born February 7, 1948 in Chicago, Ill., to Stanley and Marion (Michalski) Guzik, both of whom preceded her in death.

Sandra was married to Ernest R. Solomon, who survives of Valparaiso, Ind.

She is also survived by her son, Jason Solomon (Dezerae Lockridge) of Valparaiso; daughter, Sara Solomon (Rich Alderson) of Chesterton; sisters, Joanne (James) Kukla of Portage, Ind. and Theresa (Jose) Salazar of Chicago, Ill.; and grandchildren, Zoe, Jesse, Maralee and Malakai.

Sandra was an area resident for more than 30 years, coming from Calumet City. Sandra loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed Christmas, birthdays, family outings, Little League games, zoos, carnivals and parks. She always put her kids first and catered to her grandchildren. Sandra was an avid Sox fan and loved shopping. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida with her family and going to the Gulf coast.

Cremation has taken place at Heritage Crematory, Portage, Ind., with no services, fulfilling Sandra’s wishes.

Arrangements were handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.
