Paul A. “Bud” Byrnes, Jr. , 78, of Chesterton passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 18, 1932 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Paul A. Byrnes, Sr. and Marie Gallagher Byrnes, both of whom preceded him in death. Paul married Caroline E. Fischer Byrnes on May 3, 1958 in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania. Caroline survives in Chesterton. Paul is also survived by his 6 children, Paul A. Byrnes III of Valparaiso, Tom (Kathy) Byrnes of Chesterton, Ann Byrnes of Valparaiso, Mary (Mitt) Denney of Greenwood, IN, Patricia Byrnes of Oregon and Denise (Nick) Gregurich of Valparaiso. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren. Paul is preceded in death by his older brother Patrick Byrnes who was born on St. Patrick's Day and with love took Paul home on St. Patrick's Day. Paul was a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He was a retired Supervisor with Bethlehem Steel Company, where he enjoyed his job making steel.

Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served with the Military Police. He enjoyed taking walks with his wife Caroline and their dog Sam. Paul was a loving husband and father. In accordance with Paul’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. The family prefers no flowers. Memorials may be given to VNA Home Hospice 2401 Valley Dr. Valparaiso IN 46383.
