Ernest R. Blackstad of Michigan City, formerly of Chesterton, passed away
Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at Community Hospital in Munster. He was 58.
Ernest was born July 20, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Ernest Blackstad, who
preceded him in death, and Sally A. Heller Terry, who survives in
Pennsylvania.
He is also survived by his children Corey Blackstad of Michigan City,
Jessica (husband John) Addison of Porter, Josh Ambrozy of Klamath Falls,
Ore., Michelle Wood of Grants Pass, Ore., and daughter-in-law Sara Blackstad
of Grants Pass; grandchildren Thomas, Robert, Jonas, Idalia, Brandon Lindsay
and Tyler; significant other Linda Haughee of Highland; sisters Nancy (Jack)
Vittore and Kathy (John) Gallagher, both of Pennsylvania; uncle William
Shriver of Pennsylvania; mother-in-law Pauline Solley of Chesterton;
numerous sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Ernie was preceded in death by his first wife Diane, second wife Laura, and
son Richard Keith.
Ernie was a truck driver for C.P.C. Logistics. In his spare time he enjoyed
fishing, reading, playing his guitar and taking long walks.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. at
Hawthorne Park in Porter for a memorial celebration with a luncheon.
