Memorial service set for Robert Spargur

Former Chesterton resident Robert (Bob) Arthur Spargur passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at his home in Green Valley, Ariz. He was 69.

He was the son of the late Charles Spargur Sr. and Lucille Rucker. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Dolores (Dee); daughter Michelle Berg of Hammond; and sons Robert of Union, Kent., Michael of Las Vegas, Nev. and Jeremy of Portage; sisters Elizabeth Baker and Shirley Davidson; brothers Charles Spargur Jr. and Daniel (Joe) Rucker; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, his brothers, and grandsons Robbie Spargur and Anthony Spargur.

Bob was born in Cincinnati, Ohio where he lived until 1972 when he settled in Northwest Indiana. He moved to Arizona in 2008. No matter where he lived, Bob was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and Bearcats. He loved bowling, golf, billiards and fishing. Bob leaves behind many great personal and business friends.

He has been laid to rest in Valparaiso. A memorial service will be held on April 2 in Valparaiso. For information call Jeremy Spargur at 219-746-5832. Arrangements were under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd Street, Chesterton.
