Former Chesterton resident Joseph M. Reed of Brownsville, Tenn. passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 in Brownsville. He was 72.

Born March 18, 1938, he was the son of Sylvester and Alice (Head) Reed, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie (Klein) Reed of Brownsville, Tenn.; children Kristal (husband Brian) Aiello of Florida, Russell (wife Melissa) Reed of Texas, Kathy (Bill) Burns of Lake Station, Karen (Don) Anderson of Porter, John (Teri) Reed of Michigan, Kristine (Mark) Yates of North Carolina, Melissa Garrison of Tennessee and Darren Reed of Tennessee; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Jasperson, and by his first wife, Dolores (Flick) Reed.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be made at
