Gwen O’Brien, age 45 of Porter, Indiana, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011 at her home.

She was born August 15, 1965 in Point Place, Ohio to Graham and Joyce (Van Sant) Edwards, who preceded her in death.

She was married to Kevin O’Brien, who survives of Porter.

Gwen is also survived by her son, Kevin O’Brien; sister, Gina (Dave) Collins of Chesterton; brother, Greg Edwards; mother in law, Ruth O’Brien of Toledo, Ohio; sister in law, Maureen (Matt) O’Brien Schenk; brothers in law, John Patrick (Carin) O’Brien of LaPeer, Mich., and Douglas O’Brien of Denver, Colo.; nephews, Scott and David Collins, Ian, Matty, Ethan, Matthew and Liam; and nieces, Brooke, Hannah and Erin.

Gwen was an area resident for 10 years, coming from Point Place, Ohio. She was a homemaker who was fond of reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed attending school functions with her son, and was very supportive of him.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Cremation was performed by Heritage Crematory, Portage. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio

Memoiral donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
