Gladys L. Nelson of Marion, Ind., died at 5:35 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 at Marion General Hospital, Marion. She was 84.

She was born in Chesterton to the late Arthur and Gladys (Walker) Foss. On August 12, 1950, she married Earl E. Nelson, who preceded her in death June of 1997.

She is survived by brother Virgil (wife Marilyn) Foss of Arizona; sons Larry (Lesa) Nelson of Sweetser, Ind., and Mark (Rondell) Nelson of Marion; grandchildren Alexandra, Jordan, Grant, and Valoree; special nieces Sharon McKeen and Ramona Loenewski; special nephews Rod Foss and James Davis; brother-in-law Don Nelson; and sister-in-law Deldora (Robert) Davis.

Gladys was a homemaker. She loved to cook, quilt and sew. She adored her grandkids and was the caretaker for her entire family. Gladys was a wonderful person with a very gentle heart.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, Ind. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. The funeral service will be at noon on Friday, Jan. 28 at the funeral home with Pastors Ryan McCarty and Gary Bingham officiating. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion.
