The ‘Wizard of Oz’ fan community has lost a beloved member.
Elizabeth Maren, a 'Munchkin by Marriage,' passed away Wednesday, January
26, 2011. She was married to Jerry Maren, who played a Lollipop Kid in the
famous film “Wizard of Oz.”.
She attended the Chesterton Wizard of Oz Festival for many years at the side
of her husband. They both loved attending this and the other festivals
celebrating the movie. They were most recently here in September of 2010,
and had plans to return in 2011. Elizabeth always had an infectious smile
and was adored by festival organizers and attendees.
Elizabeth’s stage name was Elizabeth Barrington, as she had a separate
career. She was an actress and stunt double for over 30 years. She married
Jerry in 1975, for which Jerry felt that he was the luckiest guy in the
world. They adored each other and it was very evident.
She was a very special lady and will be missed by everyone involved in or
who has attended a Chesterton Wizard of Oz Festival.
The community is very thankful for the time spent with her. The Duneland
Business Initiative Group is proud that she attended for the past two years
that they have organized and presented the festival.
